Welcome to Hotel Margartia Dominicano in lovely
Juan Dolio, Republica Dominicana!

Republica Dominicana

The Dominican Republic is a colorful tapestry of Spanish, French, Haitian, and African influences woven by a rich and storied history.

Christopher Columbus described this lush land as "a beautiful island paradise with high forested mountains and large river valleys". This is still as true today as it was in 1492.

In addition to the comforts of sun, sea, and sand, the Dominican Republic offers an exciting and unique cultural experience that will captivate your senses.

This is a destination like no other - a sensual feast of exotic cuisine, beautiful people and a remarkable variety of arts and entertainment options. The pulse-pounding thrill of the merengue, a sensual salsa or romantic bachata, premium cigars, Brugal Rum and even world-class baseball await you.

The Dominican Republic is a surprising place that will delight even the most experienced traveler.

South Coast

The South Coast, or Caribbean Coast, is where the Resort is located. It has miles of beautiful coastline and beaches, and is also where Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, is located.

Today it is a bustling, cosmopolitan city where you will find the best nightlife, restaurants and shopping in the Dominican Republic, as well as museums, ballet, opera, and a stadium for baseball games, the Dominican Republic’s national sport.

Its colonial heritage is preserved in the Colonial Zone, where you can see the first cathedral, the first monastery, first hospital, first university, and first court of law, all dating back to the 16th century.

Santo Domingo is Los Tres Ojos (The Three Eyes), a series of caves and freshwater lagoons used by the Taino Indians for religious ceremonies. Also, see Faro del Colon, built in the shape of a cross, which is projected into the sky at night.

15 minutes east of Santo Domingo Airport is the town of Boca Chica. Boca Chica boasts the largest reef-protected ocean lagoon in the Caribbean – the waters here are shallow, crystal clear, and calm.

A little further east is an area called Juan Dolio, more tranquil and less hectic than Boca Chica. Here you will find a mix of private villas, condominiums and all-inclusive hotels, as well as the 18 hole Los Marlins Golf Course. Ten minutes away is San Pedro de Macoris, home town of Sammy Sosa and the Dominican capital of baseball.

Even further along are La Romana and Bayahibe, one of the major sugarcane area’s of the country.

A popular excursion from this region is to take a boat to Catalina Island, a small island located 2 kilometers offshore that is a very popular snorkelling and diving spot, one of the best in the country.

Another excursion to take is a trip to Saona Island, located about 45 minutes from shore.. This picturesque island is popular for its beautiful white sand beaches, tall coconut palms and great snorkeling.
